A mother of two, and the drama of her life

What doesn’t Kill Us….. April 28, 2008

Well the old saying “What Doesn’t Kill Us, Makes Us Stronger” must apply to me.

I finally got to go riding on my Harley, the Hubby, and the youngest rode his bike and I was on mine.  It was lovely.  I had a wonderful time.

UNTIL……

Pulling out at the end of the road my mother lives on is tricky in car, nonetheless on a motorcycle.  So knowing the pain that it is to get out right there I paniced.  Let’s just say that I am not proud that I had my first ambulance ride.  Well you guessed it, I wrecked.  I cracked my jaw bone and got alot of bumps and bruises.

But never fear, a little thing like death isn’t going to scare me off of my bike… oh.. no..  I am ready to go again.  And as soon as I get my bike back (it has $4,500 worth of damage) I will be back on the road.   YEEE HAWWWW…..

So I decided that I wanted a Harley.  Simply because the husband has one and I am tired of riding behind him.  SO I got my happy rear a bike.  This weekend was the first attempt at trying to figure out how to ride it.

Now I rode dirt bikes and 4-wheelers when I was a kid but remember that they had no clutch.  So in all fairness I thought I knew what I was doing.  I didn’t….

The husband decides that the best place for me to learn the church parking lot, not the 5 acres of land that we have, it was too muddy.  Needless to say the first experience was not a good one.  I laid my brand new Harley over twice, luckily it didn’t hurt it.  But it did hurt me.   My left shoulder is very bruised and so is my elbow.  It got my hip too but my arm is the worse.  The husband found it extremly funny and couldn’t even look at me with out laughing.

Day two was different.  This time I made him take it to the land.  It was much better I only laid over once and that was because the toothless uncle had parked his bike in front of mine and I was trying to get around it.  but needless to say I did much better and had a good time.  I am determined to become a good rider.
